Welcome to the club! By upgrading to Root-Phoria™, you haven't just bought a bag of substrate—you've invested in a premium foundation engineered specifically for your rarest, most dramatic aroids. Formulated at Mild to Wild Studio, this substrate is designed to maximize drainage, promote continuous airflow, and create the ideal environment to help guard against the dreaded mush. To give those fuzzy roots their best shot at thriving, follow this guide to use the mix correctly.

Step 1

The Setup (Clear Pots Recommended)

If you aren't watching your roots grow, you're missing out. Use a clear nursery pot with excellent drainage holes to monitor moisture and watch the Mycorrhizae go to work.

Step 2

The Repot (Don't Pack It!)

  • Clean the Roots: Gently massage as much of the old substrate off your plant's roots as possible.
  • The Base Layer: Add an inch or two of Root-Phoria™ to the bottom of the new pot.
  • Position & Fill: Hold your plant in the center and gently scoop the mix around the roots.
  • The Tap Method: Try to avoid pressing the soil down with your fingers. Packing the mix can crush the essential air pockets. Instead, tap the sides of the pot gently to help the chunky mix settle into the gaps naturally.
Step 3

The First Drink (Watering)

Water thoroughly until it pours freely from the bottom.

Step 4

The Long Game (Let The Roots Earn It)

Cover the top of the pot with Saran wrap or place the plant inside a humidity box and let the substrate begin to dry naturally. As the moisture recedes, your plant responds by pushing out fresh roots in search of water. This is where the magic happens. Wait until you can actually see new roots before watering again. Once you see healthy roots, you can remove the Saran wrap or remove the plant from the humidity box and water again when the pot is about 70% dry.
