Alocasia Black Star Hybrid Variegated Mother Plant

Alocasia Black Star Hybrid Variegated — mother plant, exact specimen pictured. Variegation: gold marbling. Rooted in a chunky aroid mix.

The Vibe: She's the one you'll find yourself staring at. Alocasia Black Star is a hybrid of Black Stem × Imperial Giant — the moody, dark-stemmed drama of Black Stem woven together with the bold, generous leaves of Imperial Giant. And then variegation stepped in and made her a true one-of-one: her deep olive-green leaves are washed and marbled with buttery gold, each one its own painting, held high on dusky burgundy stems. She's an established mother plant — mature, confident, and already the showpiece of any shelf she lands on. You may never see another Black Star like her, and once she's gone, she's gone.

What You Will Receive:

• 🌱 The Exact Plant Pictured: This is a one-of-a-kind, WYSIWYG mother plant — you'll receive the exact rooted plant shown in the photo and video.
• 🧬 Her Lineage: Black Star is a hybrid cross of Alocasia Black Stem × Alocasia Imperial Giant.
• ✨ A note on variegation: Variegation is living and unstable by nature — every new leaf is a surprise, and future variegation (or reversion) can't be guaranteed. That's the thrill of a variegated collector plant.

Grower's Pro Tip:
She's already rooted and established in a chunky, airy aroid mix, so she's off to a strong start — keep her warm, humid, and in bright indirect light. Keep a bag of our premium Alocasia substrate, Root-Phoria Diva, on hand for her next repot and she won't miss a beat.
